Do I receive a contribution towards my premium?

PGC will cover part of your employee-only premium, in accordance with Affordable Care Act requirements for eligible workers. You may choose to enroll in any plan of your choice and cover the difference in premium.

If your client chooses to provide a larger portion of your benefits cost, when you sign up for coverage through the benefit portal, Employee Navigator, your contribution will be listed and you will be able to see your benefits cost on a monthly basis.

I don’t require medical coverage through PGC, what do I need to do?

No problem! You can simply waive coverage by logging into your benefits portal. However, you should first ensure that you have appropriate ACA-compliant coverage elsewhere, otherwise, you risk a tax penalty for lack of qualifying healthcare coverage.

How do I enroll in, or modify my benefits plans?

You can start, or modify your benefits and payroll deductions during open enrollment in your benefits portal (we’ll send you a registration link).

Is there a Mobile App?

Aetna and New York Life both provide an online portal and app to monitor your account and deductibles, find a healthcare professional, view cost estimates, and easily track claims. You can download these apps on the iTunes store or on Google Play.

Our benefits portal is also mobile-friendly, allowing you to quickly view and edit your eligible deferrals and deductions on your mobile device.

Can I keep the same doctor?

As a top-3 health cover provider Aetna has an extensive network of health professionals and expands your existing Hospital and provider network. You can browse doctors on the Aetna website.

For medical, dental, and ancillary coverages you can view the Aetna Glossary.

How do I pay for my employee portion of the medical contribution?

PGC will deduct your monthly contribution from your first payroll of each month. Please be advised that the entire month’s deductions will be deducted from your first paycheck of month, except for your 401(k) and IRA deductions, which are deferred per paycheck.

We require direct payment of any difference within three business days should your paycheck be insufficient to cover the month’s deduction. Failure to pay within that time could result in immediate termination of your medical coverage.

Will I receive global medical cover?

Aetna’s out-of-network coverage includes basic emergency and urgent care options abroad. Prior to traveling, we recommend speaking to Aetna to understand what coverages your specific plan accommodates. PGC also strongly recommends purchasing travel insurance when visiting abroad.

Where can I find details on the benefits available?

The document links above provide comprehensive information on each of the benefits as well as general information on the medical, dental, and ancillary coverage through Aetna.

We have also included a comparison of the three levels of medical coverage in the PGC Benefits Summary.

How will I receive my ID card?

You can access your card on the Aetna app. Medical ID cards are also sent via postal mail – please update us if your address has changed.

When does my coverage begin?

You will receive a notification advising you of your eligibility date and effective date of coverage. Typically, this is the first of the subsequent month after one full calendar month of employment.

For Example, an April 15th start date means that your coverage would begin on June 1st.

What if my ID card doesn’t arrive in time?

In case your ID card hasn’t arrived prior to the effective start of your coverage, you can access it via the Aetna app. You can also visit the doctor and ask them to bill you and then provide the insurance information at a later date.

Deductible reset

The deductible for the Medical Plan will reset on December 31st/January 1st of each new benefit year.

Am I eligible for COBRA?

You may be eligible for COBRA post-employment, pending your visa status. COBRA is a federally-mandated program that allows you to pay out-of-pocket to maintain your medical benefits for up to 18 months after your end date with PGC.

You will receive communications from our COBRA administrator, Benefit Resource, during offboarding. It will contain instructions and details on the plans that you can enroll in.
